NEW YEAR, EVOLVED ME
Do you feel like it’s a new year, so you have to be a new person? Often times this gets very overwhelming. I don’t know why these past few years for me, every first week of January I feel like, “What am I doing with my life?” Does this happen to you? It’s like this moment of… “It’s a new year, I should be in a new place, I should be a new person, I should be doing new things.” Welllllll… here’s what I learned…
A new year doesn’t mean a new person. Doesn’t mean you have to do a 180. Doesn’t mean you have to self-doubt yourself. A new year is a CHOICE. A reminder of a chance for you to simply make adjustments and changes in your life as you feel best fits. I learned to stop seeing it as overwhelming and start seeing it as OPPORTUNITY. This life is filled with so many choices and each moment is a chance to make decisions that work for YOU!
“Learn from everyone – follow no one.” Take all the lessons you’ve learned, all the ones you continue to learn and make your own belief system. Your own guided path. Take what resonates with you and release what doesn’t. We as humans are here to EVOLVE. Just as our bodies evolve since birth so do we evolve internally. I’ve realized that sometimes because we don’t actually see our organs, our soul, or our brain, we dismiss it and don’t really place value on these evolutions.
I recently saw my best friend. We’ve been best friends since middle school and she moved away after college, but we have remained best friends throughout the entire process. We have evolved so much, in our thoughts, our careers, our body, our love, our relationship. And we are still the same little girls who danced together in school. We’re the same people, just evolved versions. And it’s that much more special when you can do it along with loved ones.
You don’t have to become a “new person” to evolve, you are the same person. There is only one YOU! You were created once and cannot be recreated! That’s how special you are! Own that, own who you are. Enjoy the process of evolving, learning, and growth. Embrace the changes, for they are what keeps life full of sazon (seasoning).
“YOU DON’T HAVE TO BECOME A ‘NEW PERSON’ TO EVOLVE, YOU ARE THE SAME PERSON. THERE IS ONLY ONE YOU!”
Now ask yourself… “What’s my word for 2023?” This word is setting the intention for your year. That in moments of doubt, distractions, and a feeling of lostness, you come back to and it grounds you. Set an intention and pick a word that you will guide you in 2023.
My word is consistency. Consistency in self, consistency in relationships, consistency in my business and consistency in life. What’s your word?
May this new year include the same you, just an evolved you.
“New year, evolved me.”
Con mucho amor,
Jenny V.
