THE SECRET OF “MMMM…”

Do you ever feel stuck? Do you ever feel lost in transition? But then… do you ever have days where you’re so clear? And then days of just pure confusion?

This is life. This is the rollercoaster ride of the journey to self. I remember in my teens and early 20’s just living life. Not really putting too much thought into the way I moved, the things I thought, or what I wanted. I had a dream. I was going to achieve it and that was it.

I had a dream of dancing professionally. Dancing for the Miami Heat, in music videos with artists, and touring the world. And once I achieved my dream, something interesting happened. I still felt this hole inside of me. There was this sense of un-fulfillment in my soul. People talk so much about “chasing your dream,” but they rarely talk about what happens after you achieve it.

“PEOPLE TALK SO MUCH ABOUT ‘CHASING YOUR DREAM,’ BUT THEY RARELY TALK ABOUT WHAT HAPPENS AFTER YOU ACHIEVE IT.”

And so, my journey to self-began. Well… it had always been going, but my awareness was now in it. I was on a quest to understand my moments of love, of confusion, of growth, of sadness, of pain, of joy, of me.

I realized my dream was the gateway for me to dive deeper into myself. See we all grow through different experiences but interestingly enough encounter similar lessons.

So here is what I want to share with you…The secret of… Mmmm...

In the journey to self, there are 4 M’s that are key components in guiding you through your path.

They are: Mindset, Meditation, Movement and Motivation.

  1. MINDSET: What does mindset mean to you? What is your current mindset? Mindset is setting your mind to a state. Without a mindset that works for you nothing will flourish as you please. You’re only as good as your mindset. Your mind is like a computer hard drive, storing information and memories. It sends the body messages and tells it how to function and then it becomes automatic. For instance, when you pick up a pen to write you do it automatically because the brain sends a signal to your hand to pick up the pen and start writing. But this is something you learned at an early age and has now become a habit. Many of us have good and bad habits and it’s important to notice them.

    It's also interesting, that most people don’t even live off of their own thoughts, they live off of someone else’s in a program that was instilled in them. See, we pick up thoughts from our teachers, parents, friends, neighbors, siblings, partners, etc. Then, we often don't take the time to sit and process if those thoughts even resonate with us. That’s why tapping into your mindset is so important. Tapping in and creating one that works for you. Yes, you can reprogram your mind, change your beliefs, and co-create your life with the universe. So, I encourage you to tap into your mindset and make adjustments as needed.

  2. MEDITATION: What does meditation mean to you? Does it upset you? Does it interest you? Do you do it? Meditation is a silencing of the mind. It’s a space allowing you to be fully present within yourself. It is the gateway to the soul. There are many different forms of meditation. You can meditate in the shower, in nature, with music, in silence, with a guided voice, etc. There’s options and I encourage you to find one that works for you. When you tap into your soul, you receive answers. You understand yourself on a deeper level and you see beyond the surface. You see you. You see consciousness. For instance, a lot of times we ask people for “advice” when in reality it’s always skewed because they never know the 100% truth, they only know bits and pieces. But, when you go internally and tap into your soul, you receive the answers from within. And this… this right here… is one of life’s greatest treasures. Meditation is a practice. It will feel uncomfortable in the beginning, but when you commit to it, you will see the doors open.

  3. MOVEMENT: What does movement mean to you? What does it mean to move your body? For me, I love moving my body through dance. It’s this zone that I tap into where I get so beautifully lost in me, in the moment, and it’s like time stops, nothing else exists, nothing else matters. I’m sure you experience the zone through something else, but you usually find it through movement. Your body is a vessel. A beautiful vessel that shines in its own light. No one else has your body, nor will they ever. That’s how YOUnique your body is. So, move it! Treat it! Listen to its needs and allow it to flow as needed.

    Everything is energy and our body stores energy. They say stress is the number one cause of disease in the body. See stress is an energy that we feed into the body and then it gets stored and causes dis-ease to the body which creates what we know as disease. It’s a dis-ease to the body. But when we move through our body we can release the built up energy. For instance, if you're angry you can go to the gym, punch a punching bag, and release it. If you're sad, you can play a sad song, cry to its lyrics and move your body while singing out loud. If you’re happy you can jump around, dance to your favorite song, or run some laps outside. If you’re at peace you can do yoga. There are so many ways to move your body and release built up energy. I encourage you to move your body daily. Even if it just starts as walking outside to take out the trash lol.

  4. MOTIVATION: What does motivation mean to you? What motivates you? What is your why? When you identify your why and tap into your purpose you start living a life of motivation. That doesn’t mean you have to be motivated every single day, but it does mean you should surround yourself with things that motivate you. What music do you listen to? What books do you read? What accounts do you follow? What podcasts do you listen to? All these things influence you, your desire and your motivation. Life is soooooo much more FUN when you create an environment that you want to thrive in. I encourage you, tap into your why and discover what motivates you. Incorporate more of it into your life.

Andddd there you have it! The secret of “Mmmm…” Now, use these tools and create the life you want. Get to know yourself deeper and tap into your limitless self. It’s waiting for you.
